Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  • Notes and remarks. Q: Where do I find the games in PGN/CBH/... format?
A: Tournament games are in the Tournament section. Just click on the name of the tourney (like "Tournament X") to download the PGN file. If there's a CBH file present (for newer and bigger tournaments only), the tournament description will link to it. Other test matches are in the Single Matches section. EPD files are in the Test suites section in zipped format (because my ISP does not support the .epd suffix). If a file should be missing or incomplete, please notify me.

Q: Is there a way to download all games at once?
A: I'm working on creating several game collections (e.g. "all 40/120 games" or "all Blitz games"). They will be up later.

    Q: Are these autoplayer games?
A: No. About 99% of the games are played "by hand", mostly because I like to watch the games rather than just produce a statistical result. I use the autoplayer only on very busy days (like Christmas or New Year's Eve).

Q: Is SCCS an independent site?
A: Yes. Although programmers like Christophe Théron, Marty Hirsch, Ed Schroeder and Amir Ban or companies like Chessbase have occasionally provided free copies of their chess programs, SCCS does not favour any programmer or company over the other.

Q: Is SCCS run by chess experts?
    A:

Q: What programs are used to run SCCS?
A: Games are managed using Fritz 6 and Chessbase 7. Tournaments are organized with Swiss Perfect 97. Web pages are designed with Cold Fusion Studio 4.5 (the "pro" version of Allaire Homesite). Images are handled by Adobe Photoshop 4. Chessboards are snapped from Chessmaster 5500 and Fritz 5.32/6.0 using the free tool Snapshot.
