Wrapup: Nimzo 7.32 is the strongest Nimzo by far - one of the
best programs there is. Chrilly Donninger is back in the race for the best
Chessbase engine and should not fear Fritz 6 or Junior 6.
One good thing about Chessbase products is that the standardized GUI
alleviates the need for writing much about it in a review. :)
But seriously, despite being the last engine to be released with the
"old" Fritz 5.32 user interface, there's not much left to be desired in
that part of the product - we'll have to wait for Fritz 6 to see what's
still missing.
So let's turn to the actual engine then. Nimzo 98 was already a mighty
fine product. Despite its speed, second only to Fritz, it was capable of
remarkably strong positional play and had its rightful place among the
very best in computer chess. But is successor, Nimzo 99, somewhat failed
to follow up on that strong impression. Although the "99a" update showed
some improvement, the gap to the top competition was still wider than it
used to be.
